VM/XA Systems Facility replaced the VM/XA Migration Aid by incorporating all it's existing functions and offering additional capability, processor and device support.

VM/XA SF supports the following operating systems as virtual machines:

• MVS/SP Version 1 Release 1 with Release 1 Enhancement
• MVS/SP Version 1 Release 3 and later (MVS/370)
• MVS/SP Version 2 Release 1 and later (MVS/XA)
• VM/SP Release 2.1 and later
• VM/SP HPO Release 3.0 and later
• OS/VS1 Release 7 with BPE Release 3 and later
• VSE/Advanced Function Release 3 with service level 8205 and later
• VM/XA Systems Facility
• VM/XA Migration Aid Release 1 and later

The VM/XA SP is designed to support the following operating systems as virtual machines:

• MVS/SP Version 1 Release 3.5 and later (MVS/370)
• MVS/SP Version 2 Release 1.3 and later (MVS/XA)
• VM/SP Release 4 and later
• VM/SP HPO Release 4.2 and later
• OS/VS1 Release 7 with BPE Release 4 and later
• VSE/Advanced Function Version 2
• VSE/SP Version 2, all releases, and Version 3 Release 1
• VM/XA Systems Facility, all releases
• VM/XA System Product Release 1

Versions:

• 1987: VM/XA SP Release 1 (5664-308)
• 1989: VM/XA SP Release 2 - supports SNA, contains VM/Group Control System (GCS)
