Database tools that behave like or emulate the language and API of the Clipper application circa version 5.x, utilities for xBase products, xBase development in general or .dbf/ndx files in particular, or any specific xBase related development system. Clipper was a database compiler that compiled dBase III applications into object code with some extensions. Modern xBase systems usually feature some expanded features vis-a-vis the original Clipper like object orientation, better GUI support and so on, and are largely compatible with each other, at the least in the broader sense. But since a GUI was not a part of the original Clipper specifications the solutions each xBase tool has different and sometimes multiple ways of supporting GUI's.
