GW-BASIC
A variant of Basic developed by Microsoft Corporation and sold by the company as an alternative to IBM PC BASIC to OEMs that made IBM PC clones, and was typically bundled with OEM versions of MS-DOS.
Versions
- 1983: included with Compaq DOS 1.13
- 1986: 3.20 - with MS-DOS 3.20
- 1988: 3.23 - last version shipped with MS-DOS 4.01
A special version called HBASIC was shipped with Hercules Graphics Cards.
