Microsoft Word
Appearance
A word processing program from Microsoft that is actually two completely different codebases. The first one was a text mode version designed by Charles Simonyi and Richard Brodie and was developed on Microsoft's in house UCSD Pascal derived system and shipped for DOS and XENIX with versions appearing a little later for most personal computers available at the time. In 1989 a new version with a graphical user interface and coded from the ground up in C was introduced for Microsoft Windows and followed the year after by a version for OS/2.
