An RPG development system for OS/2 and later also developed for Microsoft Windows and commonly referred to inside IBM as VRPG (and not VARPG as was the convention with other VisualAge family tools). The system has some OS/2 and Windows development capability including some good quality screen designers but is primarily as AS/400 development tool, the code generation for OS/2 and Windows is intended to create GUI clients for a client/server setup that includes an AS/400 server although stand-alone OS/2 and Windows applications can be created with the system. The package comes integrated with the LPEX editor and makes extensive use of the macro facilities included with it.

The VisualAge for RPG product was discontinued somewhere after 2000 and its functionally replaced with tools from the Rational Developer family.
