NetWare became the predominant network operating system of the 80's and early 90's but lost out to [[Microsoft Windows]] servers in the mid 90's. While predominantly sold as a standalone product there were also versions that ran atop of OS/2 and the current version runs on top of [[SUSE Linux]].
