VisualAge for Java was the IBM Java development platform available for Windows and OS/2. Released in several languages like English, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish.
VisualAge for Java was the IBM Java development platform that was available for Windows and OS/2, the original version was based around the same [[Smalltalk]] based development environment as the rest of the development tools in the [[VisualAge Family]] but by version 3 it had become mostly native Java code. Released in several languages like English, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish.  


IBM VisualAge for Java, Professional and Enterprise Editions Version 4.0 was not released for OS/2.
Large portions of VA Java were open sourced by IBM and live on as the [[Eclipse]] project.
 
It was discontinued to be replaced by the Eclipse based software development tools (Websphere Studio) which was not made available for OS/2.
