The newer Internet connection was modelled closely after the very successful BBS service. Therefore you will continue to receive the same high level of service as you have come to expect from the DUDE. Also note that both our BBS service and Internet service are available 24 hour a day to support for your device driver development questions.

From IBM Solution Developer Support

Welcome to the Driver Development Support Center's (DDSC) Cyber DUDE.

The DUDE is for individuals who are writing device drivers for IBM's OS/2 operating system. The DUDE service supports you in your efforts to write drivers by allowing you to ask detailed questions directly to IBM and by providing you with up-to-date information about workshops, issues, and answers important to your device driver development. Originally, the DUDE service could only be reached by calling our "MAXIMUS" BBS at (512) 838-9717 (Please note that this BBS is still very much available as a way to do business with us). But now, the DUDE service is also available through the Internet. You could register into our internet service by sending mail to - ddscsysop @ aussmtp.austin.ibm.com

The newer Internet connection was modelled closely after the very successful BBS service. Therefore you will continue to receive the same high level of service as you have come to expect from the DUDE. Also note that both our BBS service and Internet service are available 24 hours a day to support for your device driver development questions.

Use the mail site "ddscsysop@aussmtp.austin.ibm.com" to submit both your device driver questions and to post any non-technical questions and concerns. All messages posted to us are private and can only be viewed by a member of the DDSC team.

In addition to the DUDE's BBS and Internet site, the DDSC team uses a sophisticated database to keep track of your questions and the status of each one. This assists us in the daily review and follow-up of all device driver questions sent to us.

If we need additional information or clarification of your question, we will contact you. For this type of information, contact could be either by e-mail or phone.

Status updates and/or the answers to your questions will be posted to you via e-mail. Therefore, if you have submitted a question, we ask that you check your e-mail once a business day and see if you have any mail.

Although we have a limited staff and resources, we should be able to provide answers to 90% of the questions within two business days.

One last comment - this support system is based on a private interaction between you, the customer, and us. We take your questions directly to the OS/2 development team, if necessary. We will get you the most correct answer we can. If you desire to interact and ponder your driver development questions with other OS/2 driver developers found across the world, we suggest you check out the IBM OS/2 device driver forum on CompuServe.

Thank you, and welcome.
