MetaWare Incorporated was founded 1979 in Santa Cruz, California. The company provided toolsets for software developers. Components include compiler, assembler, linker, debugger, and run-time libraries. In 1994 MetaWare introduced High C/C++ for OS/2 with DirectToSOM functionality. MetaWare was sold to ARC International in 1999. The toolset was re-targeted at the embedded market. MQX Embedded is now Synopsys and the product is now referred as Synopsys Metaware Compiler.
