This is required for reading diskettes which are written using the eXtended Disk Format (XDF) format. These are usually OS/2 installation diskettes, and some hardware driver diskettes. The first 3 disks of OS/2 Warp Version 3 and the first 4 disks of OS/2 Warp 4.0 do not use the XDF format.

TIP: After installation you can put a REM in front of the XDFLOPPY.FLT, as it's only needed for the installation disks and Fixpak disks.
