VisualAge for Java

VisualAge for Java was the IBM Java development platform that was available for Windows and OS/2, the original version was based around the same Smalltalk based development environment as the rest of the development tools in the VisualAge family but by version 3 it had become mostly native Java code. Released in several languages like English, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish.

Large portions of VisualAge for Java were open sourced by IBM and live on as the Eclipse project.

  • VisualAge for Java 3.02
    • Was available in Personal (Free download), Professional and Enterprise Editions. The Enterprise Edition in some instances require the EE version of Java that was only made available by IBM to larger clients and not to the public at large.

Support for VisualAge for Java for OS/2 and AIX has been removed in Version 3.5
