MIDI System Exclusive Messages

MIDI System Exclusive Messages are parts of a MIDI signal that contain messages that do not conform to the MIDI standard but rather send binary data that has meaning to the receiving system only.

In electronic music literature the term "MIDI System Exclusive Messages" is usually shortened to either sys-ex or simply sysex.
