Provides support for your parallel ports LPT. This driver is a replacement for the PRINT01.SYS driver. The PAR1284.SYS supports bidirectional transmission, which can speed up the data transmission to and from your printer or whatever else you have connected to the LPT port.
NOTE: By William L. Hartzell: With PAR1284.SYS the PRINTMONBUFSIZE setting will not be used.
- /LPTx - (where x is 1,2,3) enables interrupt mode. The switch is required to be in capital letters. Thus, LPT1 can be interrupt driven and LPT2 can be polled. i.e. BASEDEV=PAR1284.SYS /LPT1 will make only LPT1 use interrupts.
- To work print01.sys or print02.sys must be disabled by putting a REM in front or deleted from the config.sys. If unknown system hangs are experienced during printing, remove DEVICE=APM.SYS and DEVICE=VAPM.SYS from Config.sys.
- Using PAR1284.SYS together with some Crystal audio cards relying on CWCUTIL.EXE refuse the system to work
- The use of PAR1284.SYS and the scrollmouse drivers from IBM is exclusive. You can only use on of them.
