I'm pleased to be the newest editor for The Developer Connection News, following in the footsteps of Stacey Miller and Lisa DeMeo. Stacey's help getting me "onboard" during my first two months has been invaluable. I want to thank her and everyone on the DevCon Team for their patience and kindness during a very busy transition period. We really are like a small family at DevCon; united in our efforts to improve and expand our product for you, our customers.

This also is a great time to join the team. We celebrated our third anniversary and this is the fourth and final delivery in 1996. In just this year, your package has grown from 6 CDs to 9 CDs! In Volume 12 we're giving you a preview of JAWS, an evolving programming model and environment; we've updated the XPDKs for those who subscribe to this package; we've expanded AIX to two CDs; we've added a Windows CD and a Java and Internet Tools CD with the best-of-breed tools for multiple platforms.

Although this is my first issue and the last of 1996, I hope you agree that it is the best ever. I also hope you will say that about every issue in 1997. We will continue to provide you with the latest tools and information to make your job easier and help you be successful in your development efforts. So don't forget to renew your subscription when it's due as you won't want to miss one issue. We have some exciting plans for future volumes.

To those of you who stopped by for a chat during Colorado OS/2, Fall Comdex or one of the other recent trade shows or conventions - thank you! We appreciate your feedback, we are listening and will take action wherever feasible. We hope to meet and talk with more of you in the coming year.

So keep in touch. We want to hear from you! You can contact me at jswanson@austin.ibm.com.
